What is the MMCRGW Ryder Cup

This is an annual tournament played against a rival golf society within the Old Walcountians Rugby Club, collectively known as the brat-pack.

These guys are a motley crew formed from their association as fellow 1st team players during the hay day of the club.  They talk a good game, behave like prima donnas and still think that the club revolves around their every whim.  Only two of them still play the great game, the others live off their former glories and are well on the way to a berth in codgers corner.

The competition is a Ryder cup style pairs contest between teams of 10 or 12 and was first played in 2001.  The prize is the coveted urn containing the "ashes".  These are the ashes of the first losing captains shirt, sadly those of MMCRGW captain Stuart Gambels sweaty and ill-fitting ancient polo shirt.
